Role summary:
Reporting to the Senior HR Business Partner, As the HR Business Partner at GB News, you will be a key partner to all, providing expertise and support in all areas of human resources.
The HR Business Partner plays a pivotal role in supporting our people and driving our organisational success. You will form professional relationships with all employees and provide HR advice, including, but not limited to, employee relations, performance improvement process, absence, grievance, and disciplinary to ensure successful and timely resolution in line with current legislation.
Be an ambassador for aligning all HR initiatives with business objectives, fostering a positive and inclusive culture, and implementing HR programs that enhance employee engagement and productivity.
Key responsibilities and main tasks:
HR Operations:
- Ensure consistent application of HR policies and procedures across GB News.
- Maintain accurate and confidential employee records and HR documentation.
- Prepare HR reports and metrics for management review.
- Collaborate with HR colleagues on projects and initiatives to improve overall HR service delivery.
- Process payroll using our HR system CIPHR, this will include ensuring any overtime or additional payments are authorised and processed.
HR Policy and Compliance:
- Ensure compliance with employment laws and regulations, regularly reviewing and updating HR policies and procedures.
- Collaborate on HR-related legal matters and support the resolution of disputes.
Employee Relations:
- Act as a trusted advisor to management and employees, addressing and resolving employee relations issues effectively and on time.
- Conduct investigations into employee complaints and concerns, ensuring fair and consistent application of policies.
- Complete talent acquisition processes, partnering with hiring managers to identify needs and recruit top talent.
- create performance management initiatives, including goal setting, performance reviews, performance improvement, and development plans.
- Support succession planning and career development efforts to build a strong talent pipeline.
Organisational Development:
- Deliver on training and development needs, facilitating or coordinating relevant programs to enhance employee skills and capabilities.
- Take part in organisational change initiatives, ensuring smooth transitions and effective communication.
- Administer the Onboarding sign-off process, including monthly induction days and probation sign-offs.
- Ensure that our people are educated in all the mandatory training programs.
Compensation and Benefits:
- Provide guidance on compensation and benefits matters, ensuring market competitiveness and internal equality.
- Assist in the development and administration of performance-based reward programs.
Employee Engagement:
- Implement initiatives to enhance employee engagement, satisfaction, and retention.
- Strengthen employee engagement and morale through effective communication
Equality, Diversity, and Inclusion (EDI)
- Be an ambassador for EDI initiatives.
- Identifying opportunities within the company to drive the strategy forward and create an inclusive culture.
Recruitment and Onboarding
- Partner with hiring managers to identify recruitment needs.
- Deliver a start-to-end recruitment process, including job postings, candidate screening, interviews, and selection.
- Coordinate and facilitate new employee onboarding and orientation programs.
- Deliver inclusive hiring practices.
Regulatory Compliance:
- Monitor and interpret UK employment laws and regulations, conducting regular audits to ensure organisational compliance.
- Ensure Health and Safety regulatory certifications are updated, and training provided as required.
- Maintain compliance with broadcasting regulations through regular monitoring mechanisms, feedback and pro-active training.
- Prepare and submit required compliance reports to regulatory agencies.
- Ensure compliance with all relevant EDI legislation and reporting requirements.

What you will bring to GB News
- degree in human resources, business administration, or a related field/CIPD level 5/ or equivalent experience.
- experience as an HR Business Partner or in a similar strategic HR role.
- minimum of 5 years of experience in HR, with at least 3 years in an HRBP or similar role, ideally in a fast-paced organisation.
- knowledge of HR policies, procedures, and employment law.
- communication, interpersonal, and problem-solving skills.
- to build effective relationships at all levels of the organisation.
- ability to influence, coach and support manager across the business.
- analytical, numerical and evaluation skills to effectively review data and trends.
- relationship building and influencing skills both internally and externally.
- confident in challenging difficult stakeholders and have the ability to provide comprehensive and timely advice.
- to step across and support others in the team with their duties to cover holidays etc.
- in a digital news/media organisation a bonus but not essential.
