Marketing and Subscription Growth Manager
GB News is seeking a dynamic Marketing and Subscription Growth Manager to drive subscription growth and revenue across our membership products. Reporting to Digital Audience Director, you will play a pivotal role in accelerating conversions, enhancing engagement, and reducing churn across our digital offerings. You’ll spearhead strategies around newsletter acquisition, customer registration, and subscription growth while ensuring that our brand is seamlessly integrated across all customer touchpoints.
In this role, you’ll combine strategic vision with hands-on execution to lead high-impact marketing campaigns, optimise landing pages, and deliver personalised experiences that convert. You'll collaborate closely with cross-functional teams, using both data-driven insights and qualitative feedback to continuously refine the product roadmap and improve performance. With deep expertise in growth marketing and a keen understanding of the customer journey, you’ll craft and implement innovative strategies that inspire the GB News audience to engage and subscribe to membership.
Responsibilities
- Set Strategic Vision: Lead the development of data-driven strategies to fuel business growth, working closely with Product, Media, Creative, and Analytics teams to achieve measurable results. Shape the product strategy and roadmap for engagement, registration, and acquisition, with a focus on building an engaged community around GBNews that drives both audience volume and revenue. Identify new opportunities for growth and revenue, and influence product roadmaps to ensure continuous improvement.
- Demonstrate Marketing Excellence: Execute marketing campaigns that drive acquisition, engagement, and retention across various channels and platforms. Manage projects from concept to execution, ensuring that best practices are implemented consistently. Leverage data and insights to continually assess and optimise performance across both marketing and product surfaces, driving continuous growth.
- Deliver Insights and Optimisations: Conduct in-depth analysis of performance data, category trends, and consumer behavior to uncover key drivers of acquisition and retention. Collaborate with Product and Analytics teams to design experiments that enhance conversion and refine messaging, features, and value propositions to boost willingness to subscribe. Use a blend of data, intuition, and experience to shape the product roadmap and influence decision-making.
- Lead Cross-Functional Collaboration: Facilitate regular product and technical discussions across the organization, ensuring alignment and that the right experiences are being built to foster long-term loyalty. Effectively influence leaders and teams to drive positive change in engagement and membership strategies.
- Embody Curiosity and Excellence: Stay current with cultural, business, and industry trends, becoming deeply familiar with GBNews journalism and its mobile and web products. Model GBNews values, while continuously seeking out new opportunities for innovation and improvement.
Preferred Qualifications:
- 5+ years of experience in marketing, product marketing, or product management, with at least 3 years dedicated to driving impactful go-to-market strategies, ideally within subscription or membership models.
- Proven ability to synthesize strategic insights and translate them into actionable product roadmaps that deliver business results.
- Extensive experience designing, implementing, and analyzing A/B and multivariate tests to optimize performance.
- A track record of leading successful subscription campaigns that delivered measurable impact across key performance indicators.
- Expertise in onsite optimisation tactics and technologies, including dynamic experiences and paywall initiatives that enhance user engagement and conversion.
- Strong implementation skills, with the ability to guide planning and decision-making while collaborating and empowering teams to achieve results.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to clearly convey complex ideas to both technical and non-technical stakeholders at all levels.
