Job Purpose

GB News is looking for a Consumer and Money Editor to lead our consumer and personal finance coverage across every platform. You'll oversee the whole consumer and money section, bringing in exclusives, interviews, explainers and analysis on cost of living, banking, mortgages, savings, pensions, scams and wider money issues.

This is a multi-platform role. You'll write for the website and app, front video podcasts, deliver on-screen explainers and contribute confidently to our TV output, as well as YouTube and social. Everything you produce will be distinctive, accurate, audience-focused and fully compliant with legal and editorial standards.

Key responsibilities:

• Own and drive GB News' consumer and money agenda across a seven-day digital operation.

• Oversee the consumer and money section, setting priorities and commissioning coverage across platforms.

• Break exclusive stories and deliver fast, accurate coverage of cost of living, banking, mortgages, household bills, savings, pensions, tax, scams and consumer affairs.

• Secure and conduct interviews, and produce explainers and analysis that help audiences understand what changes mean for them.

• Write, edit and publish high-quality articles for the website and app, YouTube and social platforms.

• Translate complex personal finance developments into clear, engaging and shareable journalism for a broad audience.

• Appear on air to explain consumer and money stories with confidence, clarity and authority.

• Present video podcasts and on-screen explainers for digital platforms.

• Build and maintain strong contacts across financial institutions, regulators, consumer groups, campaign organisations and industry bodies.

• Ensure all output complies with legal, regulatory and editorial standards for digital and broadcast publishing.

Skills and experience:

• Substantial experience as a consumer, personal finance or money journalist in a national newsroom.

• Strong on-screen presence, with experience presenting or reporting on TV and digital video.

• A track record of breaking exclusives and setting the agenda.

• Excellent writing and editing skills, with the ability to make complex financial subjects clear and engaging.

• Strong contacts across banks, regulators, consumer groups and the wider personal finance industry.

• Sound knowledge of media law and Ofcom and IPSO standards.

• Good news judgement and the ability to work quickly and accurately under pressure.
